A Note from Ann Baker
May 18, 2008
Hi Tara, I wanted to let you know about my pink scarves. I started making them after seeing your website and was going to mail them to you. My 87 yr old Mother and I were crocheting and knitting away, when some of the girls here at Gore wanted them to wear in the walk for Breast Cancer last Sunday. I gave them 10 scarves and asked them to give them to survivors when the race was over. They did and it was such an emotional time for them. They have thanked me for giving them the scarves and sent me more yarn. I now have my 9 yr old granddaughter crocheting. She started last night and has over 4 inches done all ready. Below is the picture of the girls in the walk before they gave their scarves away. I am thankful for your brother, letting us know about your ministry to woman. We will be sending you some scarves as soon as we have some left. We seem to be giving them out as fast as we make them. Thanks again and I will be in touch again.

A Note from Leslie
May 17, 2008
I received a note from a gal I mailed a scarf to. I learned about her battle with ovarian cancer through Celebrate North Dakota. She writes:
"What a wonderful surprise! The pink scarf is beautiful and your cause is incredible, it brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes I struggle to keep going, but I am a fighter and I still live life to the fullest! And every now and then I get a little extra boost of love, concern & compassion from people like you – I take it as a sign from God that I am still here for a reason – and I push on! Thank you so much!"
I am so blessed to be able to give pink scarves to such special women. Knowing I made someone feel better for just a little while warms my heart.

I received a letter from the Office of Robin Roberts. Robin is an anchor on Good Morning America.
The letter reads as follows:
Hello Tara!
Robin wishes that she was able to thank everyone personally. Robin has received the wonderful handmade scarf along with the card that you sent and they have truly lifted her spirits. She would like to thank you for thinking of her during this time and wants you to know that you too are in her thoughts and prayers. She appreciates your suppoort, encouragement and thoughtfulness. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

I received a letter from Elizabeth Edwards and in her letter she wrote:
"I appreciate that you took time from your busy life to think about me. Your kindness lifts my spirits and your caring touches my heart. I’m feeling strong and appreciate all your support. Thank you so much for the pink scarf and the encouraging words."
Elizabeth, you’re an inspiration to all women who are battling cancer.
Thank you!
Making Debbie’s Day
April 12, 2008
Yesterday was Friday and I decided that I was going to make someone’s day. I was going to hand deliver a scarf to a woman that I read about in Celebrate North Dakota. She was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I go to her place of work and ask for her. The receptionist is unable to get a hold of anyone in her department so she asks if they could page her. Within minutes I hear the page overhead and she calls the receptionist. The receptionist informs her that there is a lady in the lobby waiting to see her and asked her if it would be possible to come up and see her. She says "Yes."
Debbie comes around the corner and she looks like she did in the paper, except she’s far more beautiful in person! I tell her that I’m the Pink Scarf Lady and that I have a special gift for her. I proceed to share information with her about my project and ask her if she has time to open her gift. She starts by opening the card. She then unwraps a beautiful pink scarf and says "it’s so beautiful. You’re amazing! You do this for women with cancer? I said "Yes, anyone that I hear about." She said "You made my day. In fact, you really made my day. Thank you so much! "
On my way home I think about what it must be like to have a complete stranger come to your place of work, give you a gift, and have them tell you you’re special. I know from experience it makes their day and it certainly makes mine. I feel so good inside knowing that I touched another person’s life so positively.
